With all due respect… you gotta experience NIMESH PATEL’s astounding live stand-up sets for yourself! As the first Indian American writer on Saturday Night Live, his rapid rise as one of the hottest names in comedy is definitely amazing and well-deserved. Offering fresh takes, hilarious tales, relatable experiences, and a knack for all-out comedy antics, Patel’s live shows have been in great demand. Now, he’s kicking off a huge North American tour this spring with a big night coming up in Seattle.
Nimesh Patel’s career in comedy all began after college, “I graduated in 2008, with a degree in finance… And that was about the funniest thing you could do at the time,” he shared with Michigan Daily. Treating comedy as an escape, he found great interest in pursuing it as a full-time career. Working hard during the day and performing stand-up sets at The Stress Factory at night, he worked on his craft and steadily grew a following. In 2015, he was doing standup at Greenpoint, and was discovered by none other than Chris Rock, subsequently taking him in to be a writer for his 88th Academy Awards ceremony team.
After that, he was a finalist in Kevin Hart's Laugh Out Loud Network Pitch Panel, wrote for Hasan Minhaj's 2017 White House Correspondents' Association appearance, and then followed his role as a full-time writer for SNL—which he became massively known for. Focusing on jokes for Weekend Update, he caught the public eye, multiplied his following, and even received an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Writing on his SNL work.
With over a million followers on TikTok, and raking up tons of views for his content, he’s definitely passed by your for-you-pages — stirring up big laughs as you scroll. If you haven’t been to one of his live sets just yet, this upcoming trek is definitely the one to check out. With all due respect… he’s just being his true self, pointing out what he’s experienced and observed in this messy world. He’ll get you laughing out loud, in tears, and leaving the auditorium with a fueled heart and a rejuvenated laugh box.
