Coming from a talented family, Marcus King knew at a young age that music was something he would like to pursue. He is the son of a well-known blues guitarist in South Carolina, Marvin King, and even performed with his father at a young age. Although for others, this may come as a curse rather than a blessing, being afraid of living behind the shadow of successful parents, Marcus made this an experience to forge his own career and make a name for himself.

Marcus, while still a teenager, put together a band that fused soul with psychedelic Southern rock. After abandoning his high school studies, he dove headfirst into a career in music. He drew influences from jazz guitarists such as Albert King, B.B. King, and Duane Allman while studying jazz performance and theory.

A 2014 YouTube video of Marcus jamming at Norman's Guitars proved popular, bringing him a lot of exposure. He created a stir in the jam band and blues scenes as the lead singer and guitarist for The Marcus King Band. His first solo effort, "El Dorado," was produced by Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys, and it was the album that really launched his career. The groundbreaking 2020 CD was nominated for Best Americana CD at the Grammys and was well-praised upon its release.

Additional evidence of Marcus's musical talent was his 2022 album, "Young Blood," which was also produced by Auerbach. He became an instant superstar when the album entered the charts and peaked on Billboard's Top Blues Albums Chart. Marcus King's powerful performances and amazing guitar-slinging skills never fail to enchant audiences with his blend of soul, blues, rock, and jazz. And we know that he is just getting started.

This 2024, the blues star will hit the road for his “Mood Swings World Tour.” Catch him and his latest songs this on May 6 at Seattle, Washington’s Moore Theatre. Tickets are selling out fast, so be sure to secure your tickets early. Grab yours by hitting the “Get Tickets” link.
