Jim Jefferies and the "Son of a Carpenter" tour come to the Moore Theatre on Saturday, April 11th. With a name like that, you already know what you're in for. It's a provocative performance from a comedian who's a bit of a loose cannon! There's something of a pass that he gets being an Aussie that you just couldn't be afforded to an American comedian. Opinions on certain subjects are going to be weighed differently for local comedians. To be 100% honest, Jim Jefferies takes advantage of this to the fullest.
It's gonna be one of those nights when you're not going to be able to doze off. At times, the line here is, you gotta be on your toes. This show's set to be highly controversial and not for the easily offended! If you're here, you know that, but the warning's just there for these people who randomly seem to stroll into these comedy shows. It's one thing to be highly offended by a random act on a comedy night, and it's another to feel "uncomfortable" with the main event. It can happen sometimes when comedians don't come to the stage with a set that's neatly pre-written, they can start down weird rabbit holes. That being said, this is the guy you know from the "gun control bit." If you're sitting inside the Moore Theatre thinking, "Wow, he went there," it's probably more on you!
Sadly or thankfully, the news cycle has been good to Jim Jefferies. He's not going to have a lack of spicy theories to be able to pull from, that's for sure. The name of the tour and the design behind everything are provocative on their own. That's before even getting a hint into what this "Son of a Carpenter" tour is going to be all about. What you can expect is a high-tempo set with him raising his voice quite a bit to make a point. Then you've got the Aussie accent to just hit it home for you!
Jim Jefferies is a wild personality, to the point where it can make sense to want to be close to the stage. You just never know how he's gonna want to interact with the fans. However, he is one of those comedians that you just don't want to heckle. He's got a ton of things to pull from to get the audience on his side. Know that going in, if you're looking for a spot that's a little too close for comfort to the stage. From the middle of the theater, you can experience the show just fine!
