Guitar and bass wunderkind Cory Wong is one of the most prolific solo instrumentalists in the jazz music scene. His 11 highly-acclaimed solo studio albums contain a unique blend of jazz, funk, rock, new age, and more. His third studio album, The Optimist, entered the top 20 of Billboard’s Jazz Albums and Contemporary Jazz Albums charts. One year later, Wong’s follow-up album Motivational Music for the Syncopated Soul soared to number 7 on the Contemporary Jazz Album chart.
Apart from his solo albums, Wong released several efforts with the jazz superband, The Fearless Flyers. These releases span from 2018 to 2022. In 2020, Wong collaborated with Jon Batiste to release Meditations. The self-released effort earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Age Album at the 2021 Grammy Awards. Moreover, he has also collaborated with renowned saxophonist Dave Koz and the Dirty Loops.
Cory Wong is also an esteemed session guitarist and has performed with numerous renowned artists, including Bryan White, Ben Rector, Chris Thile, Dave Barnes, and Brandon Heath. Wong also had a short stint with Stay Human, the house band on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In 2021, Wong and Fender collaborated and released a Cory Wong Signature model Stratocaster, with all of Wong’s desired specifications.
