Formed in Sheffield back in ‘73, CABARET VOLTAIRE stands as one of the pioneers of electronic music. While they’ve gone through massive releases, memorable tours, and a couple of revivals, their blend of synthpop, techno, house and funk offered something unique in the post-punk era. With a run of big hits like “Sensoria,” “Keep On”, “I Want You”, and “Nag Nag Nag”, their music shaped what industrial techno is. At a time when music production was significantly more challenging, they innovated with unconventional means, paving the way for technology to catch up. It's been a glorious history for these electric pioneers, so founding members Stephen Mallinder and Chris Watson are performing LIVE for Cabaret Voltaire’s FINAL USA + CANADA TOUR.
Part of this legendary run, capping off decades of electronic music influence, the pair that recently reunited will be treating fans to a career-spanning showcase of all the hits, deep cuts, favorites, and iconic moments that made Cabaret Voltaire the legendary piece of music history it is today. It’s all coming to Seattle as Mallinder and Watson hit the stage at Moore Theatre on Monday, May 4th. Book your tickets now!
This is your last chance to catch CABARET VOLTAIRE live on stage as Stephen Mallinder and Chris Watson kick off their FINAL USA + CANADA TOUR. Capping off five decades of history as pioneers of electronic and industrial music, the “Sensoria,” “Keep On”, “I Want You”, and “Nag Nag Nag” hitmakers are offering longtime fans and new generations of listeners an authentic concert experience, for the last time. With only six shows across North America this May, Seattle’s Moore Theatre sure is the place to be. Crafting a show that’ll bring justice to their 50-year legacy, it’s a full-circle moment for Mallinder and Watson who formed the band with the late Richard H. Kirk.
Are you a longtime fan longing for a dose of nostalgic electric & techno music? Or are you an old soul from a new generation of listeners who recently discovered Cabaret Voltaire’s legendary industrial pieces? Well, everyone’s invited to come and celebrate the legacy they’ve made at these final set of shows. You sure wouldn’t want to miss out on this.
Formed in Sheffield by trio, the band was named after the Zürich nightclub known to have fostered the Dada movement. With tape loops, oscillator noise, distorted vocals, mechanical rhythms, and more, they were hailed for their experimentation, innovation, and influence to what became the foundation of electronic music. As pioneers and craftsmen of industrial techno, Cabaret Voltaire gained a massive following during the post-punk era. Later solidifying elements of synthpop, techno, house and funk in their music, the band became one of the biggest acts in electronic music around the world. Listed on Alternative Press’ “100 underground inspirations of the past 20 years” list in 1996, they were definitely ahead of their time.
Separating in 1995, and a series of revivals, this last hurrah follows Mallinder and Watson’s reunion for the Sensoria Festival in Sheffield in 2025.
Seattle marks the spot as Cabaret Voltaire marks only 6 shows across North America for their final tour. A historic performing arts venue that opened its doors in 1907, the Moore Theatre packs plenty of history with legendary acts having stepped on its grand stage. Located two blocks from Pike Place Market, its central location makes it an iconic landmark for the city and the entertainment industry. Fitted with up-to-date technology and comfortable seating, it’s always a pleasure to catch a show at Moore Theatre.
