The film was released in 1986 by Jim Henson. Rock superstar David Bowie starred as Jareth, the king of the Goblins with Jennifer Connelly as Sarah Williams and Toby Froud as Toby Williams. The fantasy film was heavily influenced by Alice in the Wonderland and Wizard of Oz.
