Moore Theatre - WA
He was the man who introduced the Western world to the magic of the classical Indian tradition of the ragas. He was the man who transcended barriers of culture, language, race, and generation with his teachings, performances and iconic collaborations with legendary Western musicians such as George Harrison, Philip Glass, and Yehudi Menuhin. He was a master of the sitar; he was the composer who seamlessly blended elements of the East and the West with excellence.
And now, just about 13 years after the sitar virtuoso and musical master’s passing, his widow and tanpura player Sukanya and daughter Anoushka have curated an ensemble of world-class musicians for a musical celebration of the musical genius’ legacy - and they will be on tour in 2026! That’s right, Seattle - the Ravi Shankar Ensemble is coming to the Moore Theatre on 6 April 2026!

"Music transcends all languages and barriers and is the most beautiful communicative skill one can have."
The Indian sitar virtuoso, composer, and most-adored, admired, and important exponent of Indian classical music explained it all - his life’s goal, his passion, and his legacy - in one sentence.
Few musicians have the impact Ravi Shankar had during his lifetime. Apart from his incredible performances showcasing his mesmerizing sitar mastery, transcendent improvisations, intricate rhythms, and seamless blend of Eastern and Western instrumentation; widely known and adored collaborations with The Beatles’ George Harrison and Ringo Starr, violinist Yehudi Menuhin, keyboardist and singer-songwriter Billy Preston, German musician Klaus Voormann, and drummer Jim Keltner; and his compositions for sitar and Western orchestra, Ravi Shankar holds a place in countless music-lovers’ heart as the man who brought the Western world the magic, spiritual depth, and wonderful energy of traditional Indian classical ragas.
13 years after the musical legend’s passing, his widow Sukanya and daughter Anoushka have curated an exceptional multigenerational ensemble, including the remarkable talents of sitarist Shubhendra Rao, tabla player Anubrata Chatterjee, and vocalist and violinist Padma Shankar among others, in celebration of Ravi Shankar’s legacy, music, and craft, and are embarking on their debut tour across North America in 2026. The Ravi Shankar Ensemble is slated to take the stage from mid-March 2026 in Princeton, New Jersey, performing in all the major cities before taking their bow in early April 2026 in Seattle, Washington State.
