Her songs have also been recorded by other stars and big names in music, including Kelly Clarkson, Rory Block, Sugarland, Ellis Paul, The Chicks, and more. Where did it all begin? Well, she bought a guitar for $50 at the age of 16. After a marriage that came to an end back in '94, she started performing in coffee houses around Boston and was scouted by A&M Records. With demos that were believed to be overproduced, executives stripped it down to what would become "Living with Ghosts". From then on, she experimented with familiar mellow hits and some upbeat rock & roll energies.
Dedicated to making heartfelt records, Griffin has been recognized for her efforts and pure heart in her work. In 2007, she received the prestigious Artist of the Year award from the American Music Association. Later on, she was also given the Lifetime Achievement Award for Songwriter from the American Music Honors & Awards. With a couple of Grammys up her sleeve, her music definitely hits hard. With concerts coming up, we're streaming on repeat! The newest album "Crown of Roses" even won Best Folk Album.
