Dream Theater was conceived in 1985 as Majesty by Mike Portnoy, John Myung, and John Petrucci, who were students at Berklee College of Music at the time. Their debut album “When Dream and Day Unite” dropped in 1989 under a new name: Dream Theater. During the course of their career, they recorded 15 studio albums, with their second, “Images and Words”, being their highest-selling release, peaking on the Billboard 200 chart. Their subsequent albums were all received with massive critical acclaim, with “Metropolis Pt. 2: Scenes From A Memory” ranking on Guitar World magazine’s list of 100 greatest guitar albums of all time, as well as the 15th Greatest Concept Album by Classic Rock magazine. In their 40-year career, Dream Theater has sold over 15 million albums worldwide and received three Grammy Award nominations, of which they’ve won one. They are also hailed as one of the “big three” of progressive metal, alongside Queensrÿche and Fates Warning.
It’s not just an ordinary gig. It’s Dream Theater’s classic hits performed live.
From the quirky intro, frantic rhythms, and crazy instrumentation of “The Alien” to the jaunty opening groove, deft key changes, and impressive instrumental sections of “Sleeping Giant”, from the heavy yet super-melodic chorus of “Bridges in the Sky” to the thrilling, exceptional guitar solos, melodic volume swells, and gentle melodies of “Count of Tuscany”, audiences are in for one hell of a ride!
It’s not just an ordinary gig. It’s the historic Moore Theatre becoming a Dream Theater.
From the outside, the Moore Theatre might look plain, but the interior is magnificent and majestic. The unique mixture of Byzantine and Italianate architectural styles ensures not only splendor but top viewing experiences. The Moore Theatre boasts 1,800 seats spread across three levels.
